CORRECTIONS from Satu: Robin is not about girlhood but boyhood and therefore it doesn’t belong on a Taylor Swift album for my money. Don’t make me care about boys! Without making the connection to Seven and other songs about girlhood I take back my glowing review.

I can’t believe I forgot to mention Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus, arguably Taylor’s first direct and unequivocable mention of queer sexuality.

Lol this is fair! I think Robin is about boyhood but also about cats and Taylor Swift's childhood so I give it a pass.

I love this - also just pre-ordered your book! 😍 I completely agree about sitting with the music for a while before deciding how we feel about it. So many albums - both Taylor Swift’s, and other artists - I have to listen to multiple times before I really know which are my favourites or how it makes me feel. Controversially I didn’t love folklore when I first listened, and it’s now tied with 1989 as my favourite!

Thank you so much! Folklore was such a change, it makes sense it took time to settle in. I feel like with Taylor, she speaks so directly that sometimes it just sounds very normal. Then suddenly you’re crying.

Love this. “Please do not torture my poet” 🙌 I am completely obsessed with TTPD, it has so many layers. It takes a lot more than one or two listens to truly get into the depths of this album. Poetry should be savoured slowly.

Really appreciate this look at an undeniably messy and challenging record but one that I find really compelling! It has really toothy narrative stakes that I feel were obscured on Midnights and I'm happy for the return to form in that sense. Loving this era and as always excited to see what she does next.

That’s such a great phrase - “tooth narrative stakes”. I agree. Midnights was much spacier and more vague.
